Work to begin on Ontario community garden

By LAURIE ERICKSON | Ontario Public Library director

It’s time to start getting the Ontario community garden ready for the season. We have tentatively set a garden workday for Monday, May 16, at 8:30 a.m., weather permitting. We will clean up the garden and get it ready for planting. Watch our website (www.wrlsweb.org/ontario) or give us your email address if you would like up-to-date information on dates and times for workdays.

The book group will discuss “Founding Mothers” by Cokie Roberts at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11. Find out what the women were doing while the men were fighting and forming our government. Stop by the library for a copy if you would like to join the discussion.

Sock ‘Em, a knitting group, will meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the library. This group meets monthly to try more difficult sock patterns. Stop by the library for a copy of the pattern and list of supplies.

Tai chi with Deb Hilt will be offered at 1 p.m. Wednesdays through May 11. This is your last chance to learn simple exercises that promote body awareness.

“On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!” is the theme for our summer reading program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Programs will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays in June beginning Monday, June 6. There are different programs each day, so come to any or all. Our programs will be in June only, as the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District’s summer programs are in July.

Reminder: The library now is open Tuesdays from 2–6 p.m.
