The Corner Grill is back in Wilton and doing a brisk business, according to Jennifer Downing. She has leased it from the owners who decided not to open it this year due to health problems.

Downing has experience cooking in Melvina and at The Place in Norwalk.

“I hated to see it sit empty,” Downing said. She is continuing with a menu similar to what had been offered in the past.

If you like short orders and dining outside, the Corner Grill can satisfy your need for burgers, hot dogs, and other hot sandwiches. This year a veggie burger is on the menu and has been very popular, according to Downing.

Diners may choose among wraps and salads, but the big draw is ice cream, including sundaes, malts and shakes.

The business is seasonal, and Downing said she planned to be open possibly into mid-October, depending on the weather.

The hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
