Monday, May 7: The Vernon County Highway Department reported a that “road closed” sign and stand had been stolen from Highway 162 near Depot Street in Chaseburg. 

Thursday, May 10: Keys with a Walgreens tag were found in the parking lot at Corner Collectibles in Stoddard. 

Thursday, May 10: Ten Holsteins were reported loose on Highway 80 in the town of Greenwood.

With summer here, our roadways will become busier with motorcycles, bicyclists and pedestrians. Sheriff John Spears urges everyone to be aware and alert for motorcycles, as they can sometimes be less visible than other motor vehicles. Also, remember that bicyclists have rights, too.

Keep an eye out for pedestrians and yield to them in crosswalks. Young children will be on or near roadways on their bikes or other recreational equipment and may not be paying full attention to traffic. Help keep our little ones safe by being extra vigilant and watching for them.
