Two local teenagers, Caleb C. Witt, 17, of Ontario and Colin P. Leis, 16, of Cashton, recently were cited for falsifying an accident report regarding an Aug. 21 crash, according to the Tomah Journal.
Leis’ truckup rear-ended Witt’s pickup on Highway 33, near Opportunity Road, in the town of Sheldon. In the accident report, both claimed Witt had braked to avoid hitting a deer.
Later, Leis’ mother contacted police, reporting that the cause of the accident was Witt’s malfunctioning brake lights. The boys admitted to lying about the deer.
