Thank you to all of the people who participated in this year’s community theatre performance of “Dandelion Summer.” If you honed your acting skills, baked a pan of dessert, or lent us your furniture, your efforts are much appreciated by the Wilton Public Library board and staff.

The library book group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, to discuss Ray Bradbury’s “Dandelion Wine.” This novel was the basis for our theatre production, so it will be interesting to talk about this work from the page to the stage.

It was a pleasure helping Chief Jeremy Likely again this year with the Wilton Wood Turtle Days bike rodeo. He received 300 bicycles from local businesses and put them in the hands of 30 children. We had more than 80 entries, so we look forward to this event again next year. Each participant received a free book for participating. Bikes and books — what could be more fun?

The library’s chess club, The Check Mates, meets the first and third Tuesday of every month; our next meeting is Aug. 21 at 4 p.m. Players of all levels of experience are invited to attend. If you have a chessboard, bring it along.
