There is little movement on South Ridge, with the exception of doctor and therapy appointments. An ice storm arrived Tuesday, causing cancellations and temperatures that slid below zero at times during the remainder of the week. Tree limbs encased in ice sparkled when sunshine arrived three days later.

It was a trying time for the Neumans as they made preparations to move to Michigan. When pastor accepted a call to St. Matthew’s six years ago, the parsonage remodeling project was not quite complete. They resided in a home in Wilton for a short time, and the day they moved to the ridge, a five-inch snowstorm accompanied them.

Their most recent move also had complications caused by the weather, and they needed more time than they had expected to load their belonging into a large van. Several ladies from St. Matthew’s and St. John’s came to their aid, providing lunches and childcare in the church parlors. It was late Friday afternoon when they said their final goodbyes and were on their way to Pigeon, Mich., and a late dinner with parents on their way.

Sunday morning services at both congregations will continue, with area pastors serving, along with Pastor William King of St. Paul in Tomah, who will be in charge of various organizations.

So, I wrote “South Ridge News” last week with much frustration, and apparently it was the fault of “the operator,” as it didn’t get to the necessary source. Let’s hope this week it will connect.

And that’s it for Jan. 10, 2017.
