The 37th Great American Smoke Out is Thursday, Nov. 15th!
Every year, on the 3rd Thursday of November, smokers around the U.S. take part in the American Cancer Societies’ Great American Smoke Out. Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death in the U.S., use this day to change your future! For smokers, this is a day to try quitting. For ex-smokers, it is a time to remind yourself about your reasons for quitting, and to think about the changes quitting has brought to your life. If you do not smoke, use this time to support someone who is trying to quit. Research shows that smokers are most successful at kicking the habit when they have support, such as:
• Counseling- (How to deal with with-drawl)
• Nicotine replacement products
• Prescription medications to lesson cravings
• Encouragement and support from friends and family
• Telephone smoking cessation hotlines
