Seminar on Medicare slated for Aug. 23

A seminar entitled “Basics of Medicare” will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, in Viroqua.

The seminar will be in the conference room at the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department, 1320 Bad Axe Court, located on the north side of Viroqua. Additional parking is available next door at the county’s Erlandson Office Building.

The presenter will be Sam Johnson, an insurance counselor at the Medigap Helpline, which is offered by the state’s Board on Aging & Long-Term Care. He said, “The presentation is a Medicare overview, touching on all the various options people may have: supplements, Advantage, EGI, COBRA, Medicare A and B, Part D, SeniorCare and other creditable coverage, and the Extra Help program or Medicaid.”

Johnson continued, “The seminar is ideal for people who will be turning 65 in the upcoming months and will be newly eligible for Medicare. But it will also be helpful to any Medicare beneficiary who has questions or concerns about the complicated Medicare options and benefits.”

The presentation is open to everyone. No plans or products will be sold or endorsed.

This seminar is sponsored by the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Vernon County.
