The Royall girls basketball team is in the middle of another win streak after defeating Ithaca on Monday night and improving to 8–3 on the season.
The Panthers, which lost back-to-back games to Necedah and Bangor in mid-December, bounced back with wins against Weston, Brookwood and Ithaca and will try to extend their winning streak as they face New Lisbon on Jan. 10 and Wonewoc-Center on Jan. 15 on the road.
League-leading Necedah defeated Royall 36–33 on Dec. 11. A week later, Bangor knocked down Royall into fourth place with a 48–32 victory. Bangor and Cashton sat tied for second place with just single losses.
A strong offensive effort helped Royall beat Weston by 40 (63–23) on Dec. 21. Jessica Brueggeman had 18, and Tenley Wopat added 10.
The first game of 2019 resulted in a 62–43 win at Brookwood on Jan. 4, while the second contest of the year was a 53–40 win at Ithaca.
Currently the Panthers are tied for third with Cashton at 3–2 in league play. Necedah is 5–0; Bangor is 4–1.
Hillsboro is fifth with a 2–3 mark, followed by Brookwood, New Lisbon and Wonewoc-Center, which are all 1–4.
