Royall boys earn split

A stingy Panthers defense allowed just 5 points in the first half of last week’s game against Cashton while the offense took advantage of its home court, putting up 41 first-half points in a 76–28 win over the Eagles.

Jayden Enzenbacher was featured in the win, as he drilled eight 3-pointers, leading the team with 28 points. Dane Hyer was 8–10 in total field goals for 17 points. Seth Brown added 14 and Wrangler Jones 10 in the winning effort.

The defense allowed just four different Eagles to score. Leading the way for Cashton, Brady Butzler scored 16.

Enzenbacher landed four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points, but it wasn’t enough to stop Blair-Taylor on Saturday evening at JustAGame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells.

Brown led the team with 16 after going 2–13 from the floor. Brown was 11–14 from the free-throw line. Dorian Keened scored 12 in the loss.

Blair-Talyor’s Dillon Zinn tallied a game-high 27 for the Wildcats.

The win drops Royall to 9–6 on the year, but the Panthers are 6–3 in league play, behind Hillsboro and Bangor.

The win was the second regular-season victory over Cashton after the Eagles ended Royall’s 28–game win streak against them in the second meeting of last season.

Cardinals clip Falcons

Though neither team had been able to practice for two days due to weather-related cancellations, Necedah found a way to control the game early on before securing a 56–38 win over Brookwood on Feb. 4.

The Falcons trailed 32–17 at the half, but found a way to pick things up the final 18 minutes of play, scoring 21 while holding their hosts to just 24.

Matt Hansen led the Falcons’ scoring effort with 16. Also, Orrie Maurhoff added 7; and Justin Marten, 6. Miles Saylor led all scorers with 22.

Brookwood falls to 4–11 on the year, and the road doesn’t get any easier for a team that seemed poised to finish in the middle of the Scenic Bluffs earlier in the year.

The Falcons traveled to Hillsboro on Tuesday and will go to West Salem to see Coulee Region Christian on Monday before hosting Bangor on Tuesday. The Falcons will finish with games at Westby and Royall before hosting Wonewoc-Center. The regular-season finale will be at Cashton on Feb. 25.
