Twenty-six-year-old Joel Dobbs of Ontario died Thursday evening after his tractor overturned in the town of Whitestown, according to a release prepared by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.
Dobbs had been spreading manure on a hillside at the end of Downing Road, just south of Ontario, when he lost traction while going down the steep hill. Then, he lost control near the bottom of the grade.
Dobbs was thrown from the tractor, which jackknifed, overturned, and then pinned Dobbs beneath the wreckage.
He was discovered early Friday morning, and Vernon County Coroner Janet Reed pronounced Dobbs dead.
The Ontario Fire Department and Ontario Ambulance Service assisted the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department, which, along with the Vernon County coroner, is investigating the accident.
The visitation is slated for 4–8 p.m. Monday at Grace Community Church, Ontario; and the funeral, 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Ontario Community Hall.
