Ontario knitting group meets Wednesday

By LAURIE ERICKSON | Ontario Public Library director

Sock ‘Em, an Ontario Public Library knitting group, will continue its Mystery Sock on at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4. Bring 100g of solid-color sock yarn and needles to make a gauge of 30 sts. to 4 inches. You will get instructions to knit a portion each month, but will not see the whole pattern until the end. Join us!

The library will have a book sale Friday, Oct. 6, and Saturday, Oct. 7, and we are accepting donations of gently used books, audiobooks and DVDs. Donations can be dropped off at the library during our open hours.

Playgroups are offered each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Join us for stories, activities and crafts that are fun and promote school readiness.

The book group will discuss “The Red Bandanna” at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11. This is the story of one man and the choices he made culminating on Sept. 11, 2001. Stop by the library for a copy if you would like to join the discussion of this inspiring true story.

The Winding Rivers Library System has purchased a Media Conversion Lab that libraries can borrow for patron use. If you are interested in converting older formats like VHS to DVD, vinyl or audiocassettes to CD, or thumb drive and film to digital, please let the library know, and we will order the kits that people are most interested in using.
