Norman E. Kowitz, 87, of Norwalk passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Sparta, Wis.
He was born Aug. 3, 1930, to Clara and Ernest Kowitz.
He was a lifelong farmer and lived on and farmed the family farm for his entire life. He graduated Norwalk High School in 1948. He was an avid baseball player for many years and played on numerous area teams. Norman served on the Town of Wells town board for 57 years and took great pride in his service to his community.
In the early 1970s, Norman met his wife Amy, and they were married Nov. 15, 1972. Together they had six children and farmed the family farm until his retirement from dairy in the early 2000s. He took great pride and joy in his family.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife, Amy; his two children, Carla and Lee Kowitz; and his mother- and father-in-law, James and Merilyn Nofsinger.
He is survived by his brothers, Byron (Ramona) Kowitz and Lyle (Patsy) Kowitz; his children, Norm J. Kowitz, Renae (Heather) Kowitz, Lisa (Mark) Carlson, and Kori Kowitz (Chad Moriarty); a nephew, Jaime Nofsinger; and his grandchildren, Kira Schaitel, Starla Schaitel, and Dina Kowitz.
A celebration of Norman’s life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Norwalk Community Center. Pastor Bob Streeter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pilgrims Home Cemetery outside of Norwalk.
Family and friends are invited for visitation at the Norwalk Community Center from 4–7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10–11 a.m. Thursday.
