As part of the summer reading program, Pam Brandau and her therapy dog Nika visited the Norwalk Public Library on June 28. Eighteen children petted and read to Nika while five adults watched.

Also that day, prizes were awarded at the Color party, children played a left/right game, and everyone got a small toy and an oatmeal raisin cookie.

The library has a new DVD, “God’s Not Dead 2,” starring Melissa Joan Hart, Jesse Metcalfe, Ernie Hudson, David A.R. White and Ray Wise.

At 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, John Heasley will give an astronomy presentation about the eclipse, which will be Monday, Aug. 21, when all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun.

Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights — a total solar eclipse. This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun’s tenuous atmosphere — the corona — will stretch from Salem, Ore., to Charleston, S.C. Observers outside this path will still see a partial solar eclipse in which the moon covers part of the sun’s disk.

The library will show the Disney movie “The Beauty and the Beast” at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 19.

Also, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, origami paper and patterns and Washi tape and patterns will be available for anyone who wants to try making something. At 11:15 a.m., we’ll have a left/right game, and prizes will be awarded at the July color party.
