The National Weather Service office in La Crosse will host an open house from 2–7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15.

This is an opportunity to visit a weather-forecast office that provides forecasts and warnings for residents of southeast Minnesota, northeast Iowa, and central and western Wisconsin.

The open house will include a guided tour of the facility, including demonstrations of its computer and display systems and severe-weather operations. Amateur radio operators, local Emergency Management officials, and other partner agencies also will demonstrate their equipment and partnership with the NWS. Staff members will be on hand to answer questions.

In addition, the National Weather Service will conduct a food drive for the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse during the open House. Nonperishable food items will be accepted.

The La Crosse NWS office is located on County Highway FA, on the ridge tops east of La Crosse. You can reach the office by taking Main Street east up the side of the bluff, past the entrance to Grandad’s Bluff. County Road FA is about one-half mile farther up the hill.
