By DR. KELLY T. BURHOP

N-O-W District Administrator

Once again, this month the May meeting of the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District Board of Education will remain virtual. All school district grounds have been closed through June 30. Therefore, restrictions are still in place on public and social gatherings of 10 people, and the district will still follow the six-foot distance requirement. This will mean the May 11 meeting of the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton Board of Education will be held, but, in regard to public safety, the meeting will be held in the high school cafeteria and will be restricted to 10 people physically attending the meeting, along with the six-foot distance requirement being practiced. The 10 people at the meeting will bethe five board members, three administrators, the newly hired district administrator, and Sarah Parker from the County Line.

The meeting will be accessible via Zoom. To access the meeting, please email Dr. Kelly T. Burhop at kburhop@now.k12.wi.us by 2 p.m. Monday, May 11. He will respond to your email with a link to access the meeting and a password. Please contact Dr. Burhop via email by 2 p.m. Friday, May 8, if you need accommodations due to a disability.

At this meeting, the N-O-W School Board will have a public hearing to waive instructional hours and educator effectiveness responsibilities. Since the meeting will not have public interaction, please send me any comments or questions you may have on that or any topic on the board agenda by 2 p.m. Monday, May 11. Please send them via the email address listed above. I will make sure all board members receive your comments and questions at the board meeting.

I know this is not a perfect situation, but school district business must continue while taking precautions to emphasize public safety. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
