The Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District’s homecoming parade will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Norwalk.

Citing safety concerns, the school’s administration has changed the parade route this year. It will begin near the former Norwalk Creamery building (South Street), continue onto Main Street and end at the Norwalk Village Park.

In the past, students and staff lined up along County Highway U, near St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, where traffic was not stopped.

According to Superintendent Kelly Burhop, “We did have a staff member hit by a vehicle three years ago.”

Later on Friday, at 7 p.m., the football team will play its homecoming game against Hillsboro. Spectators may bring nonperishable food items to the game and donate them in lieu of paying admission. The school district’s goal is to stock its Falcon Food Pantry with cans of vegetables, fruit and soup.

The homecoming celebration will continue at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Falcon Golf Scramble at Fox Hollow Golf Course in Barre Mills.

The homecoming dance will be at 8 p.m. Saturday in the middle school gymnasium.
