The Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton Elementary School just finished “a remarkable Battle of the Books season,” according to the school’s gifted and talented coordinator, Bonni Schmitz.
Fourth- and fifth-graders had four teams participate in the statewide competition, which consisted of each team reading a list of 20 books. The finale of the season involved a battle down to a fourth- and a fifth-grade champion team and an online test against many other school districts throughout the state. Both championship teams also participated in a tournament at St. Matthew’s Church near Warrens on March 1, along with 21 other teams.
