The emergency-management division of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Nixle, a mass-communications hub, to implement its community notification system.

Through the system, residents will be alerted in real time regarding local emergencies and community advisories.  Monroe County Emergency Management has launched the new notification service to improve communication with those who live, work, and visit Monroe County. 

The system provides a way to get neighborhood-level information via email or text to community members who subscribe to the system.

There are several ways to register:

• Text your zip code to 888777 from your mobile phone

• Go to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office page at the Monroe County website (www.co.monroe.wi.us/departments/sheriffs-department/) and sign up via the Nixle Widget

• Go to www.Nixle.com to sign up

Once registered, residents will receive a confirmation text to their mobile devices. Residents may also customize their alert settings by going to www.nixle.com and creating a user profile.
