Mable Jean (Winger) Strait, 79, of Ontario passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.

She was born Oct. 27, 1935, in the town of Bloom, Richland County, Wis., to Ray and Mable Winger. She attended Bloom City Elementary School and Richland Center High School and graduated from Moraine Park Technical College in nursing. She married John Blackhall in October 1954.

She enjoyed cross-stitching, quilting, shopping, gardening and flowers, and interacting with the Amish community and church friends.

 She is survived by her husband, Don Strait of Ontario; her children, Peter (Yesenia) Blackhall of Iron Mountain, Mich., Pamela Lenz of Larsen, Wis., Paul Blackhall of Ashland, Wis., and Patricia Blackhall of Coleman, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rick of Milton, Wis., and Neal of DeForest, Wis.; three sisters, Delores Daniels of Lodi, Wis., Carol Logue of Port Orange, Fla., and Karen Bernstengel of Spotsylvania, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Faith Independent Baptist Church on Highway 33 in Ontario.
