When are we going to get our spring and summer weather? These cold temperatures sure seem to hang around! Everyone is ready for the warmer temperatures.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter holiday.

We had great participation at our March bingo party. Perhaps we can do that again sometime.

The St. John’s Lutheran Ladies Aid always meets on the first Thursday of every month.

Lillian Wendland will celebrate her January birthday with us on Monday, April 16.

We have rescheduled the Brighter Tomorrows presentation for Tuesday, April 17. Its staff wishes to inform us of the domestic and sexual-abuse services it offers. We so often hear of senior citizens who are trapped in these types of circumstances and don’t know where to turn. If you have a concern and wish to contact them, please feel free to call 269-7853 or 374-6975. All communication is strictly confidential.

Our group of senior instrumental musicians will again entertain us Friday, April 20. I’m sure you would have a great time, so please try to join us for lunch and listen to their music. They play bluegrass and country. Their vocals are also amazing! We eat lunch at about 11:30 a.m., but the musicians start playing around 10 a.m., so come early.

The “ARDC Connect” is a Monroe County newsletter published every month and contains many interesting articles and other important information relating to senior citizens. The newsletter as well as the monthly menu can be picked up at the meal site, the library or Farmers & Merchants Bank in Kendall. You may also call the meal site at 463-7622.

I would like to thank the Hill Country Belles, also known as the Red Hat ladies, for their cash donation to the meal site. The money will be used toward the purchase of new coffee carafes. We truly enjoyed their visit. These ladies know how to have a good time.

Reminder: The Kendall food pantry will be open every Monday from 1–4 p.m. at the Painted Pony. Due to the increased number of participants, the food-pantry shelves are getting empty. Please donate freshly baked items and/or canned goods. Cash donations also would be appreciated. For more information, call 463-7606.

Remember to call the meal site a day ahead if you would like to join us for lunch. We do appreciate our regular participants, but would love to see some new faces. We have very good, nutritious meals and good conversation.
