Junates “Jake” Jensen, 65, of Wilton died Friday, March 18, 2016, after a battle with cancer.

He was born March 6, 1951, to Nels U. and Idabell C. (Atkinson) Jensen in Tomah.

He worked all of his life in construction work of some kind, such as roofing, laying pipe and building roads, just to name a few. Jake was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed working outside, fishing and hunting and was very proud of his vegetable and flower gardens. He had a green thumb and could make anything grow, not only in his outdoor gardens, but also his inside plants too.

Jake loved dogs and had a special way of training them just right and never raised a hand to get them to obey. They would just want to be close to his side. His last dog Bo, a Jack Russell, was always with Jake, and he took him everywhere.

He also enjoyed attending local auctions and never missed the daily buy line radio program. Constructing something new or refurbishing something he had recently found at an auction were a few of his favorite pastimes.

He had a matter-of-fact demeanor and a close-knit circle of friends. He had a good heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his children, Caleb (significant other Amanda Atchison) Jensen of Warrens and Carrie (fiancé Seth Rasch) Jensen of Tomah; his grandchildren, Sebastian, Dylan, Haley and Brandon; his brothers and sisters, Marvin (Joyce) Jensen of Norwalk, Delores (Loyal) Larson of New Lisbon, Beatrice Streeter of Beloit, Junior (Nancy) Jensen of Camp Douglas, Marlea (Vic) Evans of Camp Douglas and Dennis Jensen of Tomah; a close friend, Wendy Clark; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Norman (Bernice), Arnold (Mildred), Kermit (Tootie), Ray (Lillian) and Carl (Regis); and his sisters, Agnes (Lawrence) Webster, Genevieve Jensen, Mary (Harvey) Gnewikow, Janice (Tim) Mahany and Ruth (George “Tuff “) Herth.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at The Log Building, 601 Pine St., Warrens. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the service, with a fellowship to follow.
