Josephine M. Rudi, 95, of Cashton passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at the Norseland Nursing Home in Westby.
Josephine grew up on a farm on St. Mary’s Ridge, rural Cashton. She was born Jan. 10, 1922, to William and Fredica “Freda” (Herricks) Schaub. She was united in holy matrimony to Leonard Rudi Sr. on Oct. 27, 1942, at the Catholic church on St. Mary’s Ridge. Josephine was an outstanding homemaker and a spunky, strong woman. Her flowers were always beautiful, and when she could, she loved going fishing.
She is survived by her sons, LaVerne Rudi of Cashton, Arnold (Roberta) Rudi of Viola, and Leonard (Kala) Rudi Jr. of Cashton; her daughters, Kathleen Jennerjahn of Greenville, Wis., and Marlene (Robert) Coggeshall of Fall River, Wis.; seven grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Engelbert Schaub of Westby, Sylvester (Theresa) Schaub of La Crosse, and Jerome (Paula) Schaub of Onalaska; a sister, Bernadine (Orval) Scharping of Cashton; a sister-in-law, Margaret Schaub; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, who died in 1975; three daughters, Caroline Rudi Smith and Joan and Diana Rudi; her brothers, Lawrence and Isadore Schaub; and a son-in-law, Paul Jennerjahn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church on St. Mary’s Ridge. Father Michael Klos will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family are invited for visitation Friday, Dec. 22, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
