Joanne E. Schnurr, 74, of Kendall died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, at the Onalaska Care Center.

She was born Oct. 16, 1944 to Homer and Genevieve (Sitko) Petersen in Chicago. She was a member of the Carl Schurz High School graduating class of 1962. She was united in marriage to Ronald E. Schnurr on Dec. 23, 1972. He preceded her in death Nov. 3, 1998. Joanne was very hard working; she worked for Rayovac, for MECA in Kendall for many years, and at Valley Inn. She enjoyed bowling, and she was a huge Elvis fan and a huge Chicago Cubs fan. Joanne will always be remembered for her feisty and sassy attitude. She loved her grandchildren and was always interested in their lives. They will always remember hugs from Grandma.

She is survived by two daughters, Jacquelyn (Dale) Jacobson of La Crosse, and Patricia (Nick) Marshall of Holmen; two sons, Gary (Alma) Schnurr and Joseph (Jill) Schnurr, both of Kendall; eight grandchildren, Joanna and Megan Strittmater, Graci and Adam Marshall, and Aria, Ronald, Arthur, and Keith Schnurr; a sister, Jackie (Roger) Owens of Montgomery, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Ardis (Gale) Brandau of Tomah; and many other relatives and friends. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ralph Steger.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Evangelical Free Church, 104 E Hall St., Kendall. Pastor Robert Washek will officiate. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery.
