Hilda Ann Wacker, 94, of Norwalk died July 1, 2016, at Morrow Home Community in Sparta. 

She was born Oct. 31, 1921, to Bernard and Gertrude (Schmitz) Wacker in the town of Jefferson on St. Mary’s Ridge. She grew up on St. Mary’s Ridge and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School at St. Mary’s Ridge. She lived and worked on the family farm on St. Mary’s Ridge. In 1989, she moved to Norwalk, where she had lived until present.

She was a member of St. Augustine’s Church in Norwalk. Hilda was known for her cookie and pie baking. She loved to cut and collect recipes and do word searches. Her favorite pastime was watching the Milwaukee Brewers; she was a lifelong fan, no matter if they won or lost. She kept track of every game and knew all of the players.

She is survived by her daughter, Helen (Robert) Mootz; Helen’s children, James, John and Leah; a sister-in-law, Marie Wacker of Sparta; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Gertrude, Frances, Elizabeth, Leona and Regina; and three brothers, Henry, Louis and William.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7, at St. Mary’s Ridge Catholic Church. Father Michael Klos will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday, July 6, at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Norwalk from 4–8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary. Visitation also will be held Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at St. Mary’s Ridge Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
