The Brookwood boys basketball team has cruised to a 3–0 start after holding off the likes of North Crawford, Lincoln, and La Farge to start the season. The Falcons picked up two of those wins last week as they continued through their early-season nonconference schedule.
The Falcons surged to a 20-point halftime lead last week at Lincoln in Alma Center. In the second half, they outscored Lincoln 25–18 for a 66–39 win. Brookwood had three players finish in double-figures: Robert Cunitz scored a game-high 25 points to lead the way, Orrie Maurhoff added 16, and Kaden Laufenberg 10. Lincoln’s top scorers, Ethan Breheim and Justin Rowekamp, each scored 10.
On Nov. 30, Brookwood stymied neighboring La Farge 63–19. Balance was key for the Falcons, as 12 different players contributed to the final score. Cunitz led the charge with 15, but Lukas Summerfield added 11. Also, Jack Mulvaney added 8; Orrie Maurhoff, 7; Tristan Watters, 5; Garrett Gerke, 4; and Jesse Rueckheim, 3. Tyler Brandau, Aaron Dwyer, RJ Friske, Kaden Laufenberg and Brayden Leis each added 2.
Brookwood travels to Necedah for an important match to start league play Friday night.
