Gjefle: Take time to sharpen your chainsaw

By PASTOR MICHAEL T. GJEFLE

Faith Independent Baptist Church, Ontario

Have you ever tried to accomplish cutting wood with a dull chainsaw? At best, it is quite frustrating and does not work very well. It is wise to prepare for cutting wood by spending some time sharpening your chainsaw before you use it. If you use a chainsaw regularly, your once-sharp chain will get dull, or who doesn’t hit a rock sometimes? Time spent sharpening the chain is time well spent.

Mark 1:35 — “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, He (Jesus) went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”

Our Savior, as He walked this earth, chose to spend time with His Father on a regular basis. Do you know the Living God as your Heavenly Father? We can when we are born again by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior.

John 1:12 — “But to as many as received Him (Jesus), to them gave He the power to be called the sons of God.”

If you know Him as your Savior, wisely spend time with Him daily by reading His Word, the Bible, and talking to Him honestly in prayer. In doing so, we not only have fellowship with God, but it will help to sharpen us for the work we can do for His glory. Who doesn’t hit something hard or difficult in life? Yet spending time alone with God daily will help us to work through those things and help us to go to work once again.

As one would take time to sharpen his or her chainsaw before using it, spend time daily with the Savior to grow in your faith and to seek to work for His glory.
