Gjefle: Slippery places

By PASTOR MICHAEL T. GJEFLE | Faith Independent Baptist Church, Ontario

We have had a stretch of wet weather that has led to lots of ice in our part of the country. Ice in the winter means slippery roads, sidewalks and such. Slippery places are nice for sledding and such, but can be quite dangerous for driving vehicles or for anything that walks. Caution is critical in slippery ice conditions to prevent car accidents or falls, which can lead to injuries or broken bones.

All of us need a certain measure of caution and care as we go through life. Understand there is a real devil who is master at deception. 1 Peter 5:8 — “Be sober, be vigilant, for your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

He seeks to deceive mankind about sin and our need of Jesus Christ as our savior. There is only one way toGod’s forgiveness and salvation … to believe and trust in Jesus alone. Have you? As a believer in Jesus Christ, there will be times of slippery places that we will face. Yet we live by God’s Word applied to our lives to keep us from slipping and falling.

Oh, read and memorize God’s Word for yourself regularly. God will use His Word in our lives to help us to sin less and see His stabilizing help in our lives, families and nation.

Acts 20:32 — “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the Word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”
