Two new, state-of-the-art Schwinn Airdyne AD Pro bikes now are available for patient use at the Gundersen St. Joseph’s therapy department, thanks to donations from Hillsboro residents Sharon Nelson and Ann and Kirby Wong.

“The new bikes are a welcome addition to the already extensive range of exercise equipment available at Gundersen St. Joseph’s,” according to a press release prepared by Gundersen St. Joseph’s. “The bikes boast a range of features such as anti-corrosion construction, multi-position hand grips and optimized controls for resistance.”

Ashley Thayer, director of rehabilitation services at Gundersen St. Joseph’s, said, “These bikes are perfect for improving a patient’s range of motion, they are particularly good where strengthening and stretching of the knee joint is an important part of a patient’s rehabilitation.”

Sharon Nelson donated in memory of her husband, Mike; and Ann and Kirby Wong, in memory of Ann’s mother, Elsie Sebranek.

“Mike and Elsie would be so proud,” Sharon said as she pedaled the bike in unison with Ann.

“These bikes will see a lot of use over the coming years, and we are incredibly thankful for the donation. I knew Elsie and Mike, they were great patients to work with, and these bikes are a great tribute to both of them,” Thayer said.
