“Spring Fever”
While I enjoy the warmth of Spring
And verdant palette that it brings
I find when air starts losing chill
I can’t deny the earth is ill
Throughout the months of winter freeze
I don’t consider its disease
But whether skeptic or believer
Spring arrives with signs of fever
A devastating, harsh diagnosis
With no consensus on prognosis
No simple fix, no magic tonic
For what’s acute and growing chronic
The treatment costly and protracted
Will that explain why so few acted?
And though I’ve never hugged a tree
There is a question haunting me
Can I embrace “just wait and see”
Or does the healing begin with me?
