All community members are welcome to attend a session at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in the Brookwood High School library.

Three speakers will give presentations on sex trafficking, child sexual abuse, and internet safety.

PRESENTERS

Lisa McCormick — Lisa speaks on the topics of sex trafficking, drug addiction, bullying, acceptance, and her faith through her personal journey as a parent of a sex trafficking victim. She educates groups to encourage them to know the signs of at-risk youth, to not be afraid to talk to them and show them you care, and to give them someone to trust. Jeffrey McCormick, Lisa’s son, was a 17-year-old boy from rural Wisconsin recruited into a sex trafficking ring out of Madison and exploited until his death in September 2016. Lisa has made it her life’s purpose to share her family’s story so others understand human trafficking and how easily children can get caught up in it.

Lisa is a member of the Wisconsin Anti-Human-Trafficking Advisory Council and is featured in the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families’ documentary film on youth sex trafficking in Wisconsin, which will be released in 2019. She is a frequent speaker throughout Wisconsin for educational and professional organizations as well as at schools, churches and public awareness events.

Julie Post — Julie is the owner of Advocating Against Childhood Sexual Abuse of Southwestern Wisconsin on Facebook. Julie has been in the news, talking about her website on WKOW 15 news, and she is a Stuart of Children. Julie received her certificate as a Stuart of Children through Darkness to Light: D2L.org.

Jenna Lee — Officer Jenna Lee began her career in Law Enforcement in 2011 with the Sparta Police Department. She now serves as the School Resource Officer (SRO). Lee has been a member of the Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force since 2015, and she has successfully arrested numerous child predators through investigations of Cybertips, online undercover work, execution of search warrants, and working in conjunction with the FBI and Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation. In 2019, Lee was awarded a life-saving award, an Award of Meritorious Service, and the 70th Assembly District First Responder of the Year Award. She will talk about the dangers we face online. Lee will also talk about how to keep yourself, your family and your children safe online.

The session is sponsored by the Wilton American Legion, Mount Pisgah Wesleyan Church in rural Ontario, the Monroe County Safe Communities Coalition, Well Youth Ministry of Ontario, Agents 4 Change.
