Brookwood theatre to present “‘Love Serving Love’ and Other Works”

Contributed by the Brookwood theatre program

The Brookwood theatre program will present “‘Love Serving Love’ and Other Works” as its fall production in November.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, and Friday, Nov. 8, andat 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the school’s classic gym.

“Love Serving Love” is an original show created by director Kim Neal Nofsinger and the cast. This work incorporates biographical information on William Shakespeare and some famous love scenes from his writings. Because Shakespeare often saw love as a bit of a game, this production is set on a tennis court and uses the volleys, serves, and other skills of tennis within the interpretations of these classic works.

The creative process of this show used the improvisational skills of the cast members and advanced their understanding of script development and the life and works of Shakespeare. This fast-paced exploration of the Bard of Avon will delight the audience.

Additional pieces will accompany “Love Serving Love” and will explore other takes on young love, particularly first kisses. Included will be a monologue performed by Lailah Eckes and “How Do I Love Thee,” Brookwood’s entry into Wisconsin High Schools One-Act Theatre Festival. “How Do I Love Thee” features Gracie Brandau and Franklin Wildes and showcases the intensive work they have done to develop their skills in physical comedy.

Other members of these performances cast and crew are Garrett Anderson, Kimberlee Downing, Rita Downing, Wyatt Hanson, Skylar Hanson, Tyana Kaufmann and Suzie McLendon.

Tickets will be $3 and will be available at the door 30 minutes before each performance. Thursday’s show will be the perfect opportunity for people to attend parent/teacher conferences and then to attend the show.
