The Brookwood track and field season continued Saturday morning, when the Falcons participated in the annual Cashton indoor meet at UW-La Crosse.
Though neither the boys nor the girls teams turned any heads with their team scores — the girls were 10th overall; and the boys, 13th — a few event finishes were key in the early part of the season.
The Falcons dominated the distance relays, as both the girls and boys claimed victories in the 3,200-meter relays. The girls — Noemi Nicolas, Kate Hyatt, Shelly Powell, Ingrid Ruiz — won the first event of the day with a time of 11:30.77. The next closest time came 13 seconds later, when Necedah finished with a time of 11:43.88.
The boys fared similarly. The Falcons’ relay — Christian Barrientos, Adrian Degenhardt, Orrie Maurhoff and Chase Ferries — ran a 9:07.02. Necedah was second as well for the boys and ran a time of 9:31.54. Only eight teams ran 3,200 relays for the girls and the boys. There were 21 total schools at the invite.
Ceara Kilfoyle qualified for finals in the 55-meter hurdles and finished sixth overall. Brooke Lehnherr took fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 55-meter dashes. Also, McKenzi Rogalla was fifth in the shot put, and Kate Hyatt was seventh in the 800.
The boys 1,600-meter relay (Alan Downing, Sam Ellsworth, Bryce Coleman and Christian Barrientos) was fourth.
