Brookwood gets new garden area and flagpole for football/softball field

By KEN CLINTON

Brookwood athletic director and sixth-grade teacher

Thanks to the generosity of several organizations, we now have a new permanent flagpole and garden area for our football/softball facility.

The Ontario Legion, Wilton Legion, Norwalk Legion, Wilton Legion Auxiliary, Falcon Booster Club, and the Brookwood Athletic Department all joined in to help fund this project.

We invite all American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary members to join us here at Brookwood for the official dedication of the flagpole on Friday, Sept. 11, when we’ll host Cashton. All American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary members will be admitted free.

SAFETY PATROL FUNDRAISER

The annual Safety Patrol fundraiser sale began Tuesday, Sept. 1, and will conclude Tuesday, Sept. 15. Please help support this great group of sixth-graders in their efforts to raise funds for their various activities.

HOMECOMING 2015

This year’s homecoming celebration will be during the week of Sept. 13–19.

This year’s theme is “Hawaiian,” so get your flowered shirts, leis, and hula skirts ready! The parade this year will be Friday, Sept. 18, in Wilton, with our homecoming football game at 7 p.m. Friday vs. Royall. Organizations interested in being part of the parade should contact Ken Clinton at Brookwood (337-4401).

The festivities will continue Saturday, when our cross-country team will host the annual Luethe–Levy Invite starting at 9 a.m. Come cheer on our runners as they build momentum toward repeating their conference championships.

On Saturday night, the annual homecoming dance will be in the middle school gym. The dance will begin at 8 p.m. and will wind up at about 11:45 p.m.

2015 FALCON GOLF SCRAMBLE

The 2015 Falcon Golf Scramble will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Fox Hollow in Barre Mills.

Packer fans, please note that the Packers play on Monday night that week, so you won’t miss a thing!

This is our sixth annual event, and we look forward to seeing even more of you participating. There will be prizes for place-winners as well as hole event prizes. Registration is $60 per person and will include a shirt or comparable prize. Contact Ken Clinton here at school as soon as possible to enter your team.
