Auction donations needed to help fund permanent show pavilion for Elroy Fair

Donation items are being sought to raise money for a permanent show pavilion at the Elroy Fair.

The Elroy Fair is fundraising to build a permanent, covered show pavilion for animal exhibition events. This includes having a space for dairy, livestock, rabbits, poultry, and dog shows and the championship livestock sale.

In the past, these shows have taken place out in the open with no protection from the elements. Though a barn and a tent have been used, neither of those venues was big enough to accommodate a show ring and a place for bleachers.

Scenic Bluffs Equipment in Union Center and Gavin Auctions are partnering with the Elroy Fair during Scenic Bluffs’ Consignment Sale on Friday, Feb. 26. All proceeds from items donated specifically for the fundraising auction would go to the Elroy Fair Pavilion Building Fund.

Farm equipment or yard or lawn tools that you have laying around would be a welcome donation. Donations can be dropped off at Scenic Bluffs. Just stop in the office and let John know it is for the Elroy Fair. Scenic Bluffs will have a separate area for donations given for this purpose.

Other non-equipment items such as gift baskets, gift certificates, quilts, woodworking, collectibles, or anything else can be donated. Pickup within a reasonable distance may be possible. Donations will be accepted up to auction time; however, the fair will advertise donations if they have the information ahead of time.

Questions about donations can be directed to Marie Preuss at mepreuss@hotmail.com or (608) 633-2123. Photos of donated items would be appreciated. Gavin Auctions will list items on its website with the photos that donors provide.

Send all descriptions and photos to Preuss by Wednesday, Feb. 10. Buyers and bidders for this special event also are welcome.
