We are very excited to welcome John Heasley to the Wilton Public Library at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 12. John is an astronomy educator with Driftless Stargazing, LLC, and a Solar System Ambassador with NASA. He will share a program for all ages all about eclipses and how you might be wowed by the Great American Eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21.

The library is excited to sponsor a community-wide walking/running club. Wilton Walks on Wednesdays is a fun way for people of all ages to get moving.

Participants may choose 8:30 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. to walk (or run) a designated one-fourth mile or one-half mile trail through our beautiful park. We will help you track your distance over the summer, and there will be incentives to keep moving all summer long.

Children and dogs both make great walking partners and are encouraged to participate! (Participants engage with the understanding they do so at their own risk and that the sponsoring groups are not liable for injury or accidents that may occur.)

Do you have a child who loves dogs? We have a therapy dog that works in our building that would love to be read to by your child. This dog is safe, certified and insured for working with children or adults. Call the library for arrangements at 435-6710.

Summer is a great time for preschoolers to sign up for 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. It is what it sounds like: a commitment to read 1,000 books to your preschooler before he or she turns 5 years old. Though 1,000 books sound like an ambitious goal, by reading just three books a day, you can read more than 1,000 books in just one year. So pick out some books and start enjoying some productive lap time with your child.
