Linus Arndt is our first child to log 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. The son of Kirsten and Justin Arndt, Linus just turned 5 last week, and he is a 4-year-old-kindergarten student at Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton Elementary School.  Nicely done, Linus. Now you can read to your little sister, Daphne!

Our preschool playgroup meets from 10–11 a.m. Wednesdays. We share stories, crafts and games. Please join us!

Save the date!  I’ve spoken to Santa, and he’s visiting the library Wednesday, Dec. 21. We know that calendars fill up fast around the holiday.

The library’s chess club, The Check Mates, continues to meet the first and third Tuesday of every month.  Our next meeting is Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. Players of all levels of experience are invited to attend.

Preschoolers continue to sign up for 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. It is what it sounds like: a commitment to read 1,000 books to your preschooler before he or she turns 5 years old. Though 1,000 books sounds like an ambitious goal, by reading just three books a day, you can read more than 1,000 books in just one year.  There is no rush; the only deadline is when a child enters kindergarten. So pick out some books and start enjoying some productive lap time with your child.
