Brookwood High School senior Cody Schwartz recently was selected as one of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association’s 32 Scholar-Athletes for 2012.
He was chosen from more than 800 nominees representing over 400 WIAA member schools. Schwartz received his award in Wausau on May 6.
The 32 award recipients had an average grade point average of 3.92. Seventeen of the honorees, including Schwartz, had achieved 4.0 grade point averages. All of the honorees will attend a four-year college, and all had earned either academic or athletic scholarships.
The 32 award recipients together had earned more than 310 varsity letters, and every student was a multi-sport athletes. In fact, 30 were three-sport athletes.
Schwartz is the fourth Brookwood student-athlete to receive this award. Previous winners were Delores Donskey (1984), Sue Hansen (1991) and Andy Doyle (2006).
Brookwood student-athlete Morgan Touchstone was a finalist for this year’s award.
