Elroy Book, Bake & Window Sale slated for June 2

By MARY WAARVIK | Elroy librarian

The Elroy Public Library will be closed Saturday, May 26, and Monday, May 28, in honor of Memorial Day celebrations.

W will hold our Book, Bake & Window Sale at the Elroy Public Library on Saturday, June 2.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., you can choose among our materials for sale. At the same time, you can munch on homemade goodies. And this time only, we will sell some of the antique windows from the old portion of our library.

Since we have just retrofitted the building with more energy efficient windows, you have a one-time chance to buy a few of the originals. We have single pane, gridded, diamond pattern, long and short windows. Use them for art projects, or build a greenhouse or cold frame. Use your imagination. Pictures and dimensions are at the library for you to see beforehand.

Mark your calendars for this special event.

We also have had several inquiries about this year’s summer reading program. Here is what is planned: Since so many children’s events are scheduled for June, we have decided to begin the program in July this year. It will run through Saturday, Aug. 11. This way, we hope children won’t have to run from activity to activity.

So plan to register your children at the Elroy Public Library on Monday, July 2, or after. We will hand out a schedule of events and activities at that time.

During the program, we will offer a pool party, a movie showing, book and movie groups, Thursday activities, story times and more. We also welcome suggestions for making the summer reading program even more fun.
