Letter to the editor: Royall School Board should rethink plan to reduce English teacher to part time

By LYDA LANIER | Town of Ridgeville

I were real shocked to read that there Royall School is contemplating a down scale of that their english Department. I have went to high school and thought that there english classes was the bestest of all, Of all the classes in the school, english were my most favorite of all. Between you and i, i think Royall School should rethink this here decision.

Consider for a moment having twenty to 30 students in the classroom. Take an average. That’s 25 essays to reed and correctly and students are suppose to be writing a lot these days. That’s 25 speeches to make in a hour class; that’s too minutes a person. Hardly long enough to catch your breathe. And grammer. When will their be time enough to teach grammer so that a student don’t graduate still saying stuff like “I have went” and “I have came” and “I ain’t got no…” and “youse guys.” What about reading and discussing grate literature???? Yes, I said reading a book or a poem whether from the library or a kindle, but reading and talking about it.

What you learn in English class you really will use the rest of your life.

If you read this letter and think its purfect, youse are in serious trouble. They need English teachers that work full time in small classes so everyone can learn.
