Laurie J. Sacho, 61, a former Medford, Wis., area resident, died Monday, March 23, 2015, at the Serenity House in Tomah, where she had resided for 1 ½ year.

She was born March 10, 1954, in Plum City, Wis. She was a 1972 graduate of Central High School in La Crosse and a 1986 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with a minor in photography.

She married Fred Meyer in Frederick, Wis., in 1975, and they were later divorced. She then married Roland Sacho in Medford in 2000, and he preceded her in death in 2004.

After her education, she started employment as a reporter/photographer with The Star News in Medford in 1987. In 2005, she joined Hope Hospice & Palliative Care in Medford as a manager of volunteers until ill health forced her retirement in 2008. She was active in the Medford Reads program and one of the founding members of the Taylor County Volunteer Recognition Council.

She was a member of Medford United Methodist Church and past member of the church council, a member of Medford VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a past president of the Medford Kiwanis Club and past lieutenant governor for the WI-Upper Michigan Kiwanis District, a past president of the Medford Area Performing Arts Association, a member the Medford Business & Professional Women’s organization, and a member of the United Way of Taylor County.

She is survived by a son, Anthony Meyer of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; a grandson, Michael Meyer of Chippewa Falls; her parents, Keith Davison of Sparta and Marjorie Davison of La Crosse; and her brothers, Dennis Davis of Fall River, Wis., and Mark Davison of Hillsboro.

She is further survived by her nieces, Corina (Erik) Anderson, La Rue Davison and Katrina Davison, and her nephews, Matthew “BJ” Davison and Keith (Jacqui) Davison and their children.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael; and a sister, Ann.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, at United Methodist Church, 287 E. Allman, Medford. Revs. Kyochul Shin and Irv Case will officiate. Interment will be at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Forest Cemetery in the town of Forest, Vernon County. Pallbearers will be Anthony Meyer, Mark, Dennis, Matthew and Keith Davison, Bill Breneman and Terry Teed.

Visitation will be from 4–7 p.m. Thursday at the Hemer Funeral Home in Medford; from 10­–11 a.m. Friday at Medford United Methodist Church; and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Burr Wesleyan church, S1728 County Hwy. V., Hillsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to one of the following: Hope Hospice of Medford, Serenity House of Tomah, Medford Kiwanis Club youth projects, Medford United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Marshfield.
