Ontario Public Library to host open house

By LAURIE ERICKSON | Ontario librarian

The treat’s on us! Stop by the Ontario Public Library on Monday, Dec. 22, during our open hours for a holiday treat. We appreciate your support of the library throughout the year, and we want to say thank you.

♦ ♦ ♦

Computer classes will be offered Wednesdays at 9 a.m. beginning Jan. 14. The topics will be “Introduction to Computers and Windows 7,” “The Internet for Beginners,” “Email for Beginners” and “Introduction to Microsoft Word.” Space is limited, so please call the library to register at 337-4651.

The next preschool playgroup will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7. Teacher Kathy Johnson from Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton Elementary School will present the program.

The library will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 31, for the holidays.

When you get together with your family this holiday, encourage your family members to write down their memories of life in and around Ontario when they were growing up. We would like to collect those stories and publish them in a book to share with the community. There will be opportunities to record memories for those who are not comfortable writing their memories themselves. We would also like to include pictures that relate to those memories. The community book group will meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the library.

The reading group will discuss “The Invention of Wings” by Sue Monk Kidd at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11. Stop by the library for a copy if you would like to join the discussion.
