Two people sustained minor injuries in a two-car crash Nov. 26 at the intersection of Highways 33 and 27 in the town of Portland, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.
At about 12:05 p.m., Edith M. Webster, 76, of Sparta was driving southbound on Highway 27 when Leslie F. Zebell, 65, of rural Cashton proceeded from the stop sign at Highways 27 and 33, pulling in front of the Webster’s vehicle. Webster then hit the Zebell vehicle, which traveled onto the island, hitting a light post and causing it to fall. The light pole came down on top of both vehicles.
Refusing treatment at the scene, Zebell’s wife, Jeanette M. Zebell, 65, had minor injuries. Webster also had minor injuries and was transported by Tri-State Ambulance to Vernon Memorial Hospital for treatment. All parties were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The Cashton Police Department, Tri-State Ambulance Service, the Cashton Fire Department, Cashton First Responders and the Monroe County Highway Department assisted the sheriff’s department at the scene.
The sheriff’s department is investigating the crash.
