Carolyn A. Kirchoff, 73, of Wilton passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at the Tomah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 13, 1941, to Spencer and Vernie (Schewe) Rolston in North Bend, Wis. Carolyn attended Melrose Grade School, was a member of the Melrose High School graduating class of 1959, and was a member of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point graduating class of 1961, earning a teaching degree. Carolyn believed that a good education was very important and was the valedictorian of her graduating high school class and her college graduating class. She taught at Burns Country School for three years, and later, in 1965, she went to work for Sparta Northern Engraving in the diamond-cutting department, retiring after 37 years.
On Nov. 4, 1972, Carolyn was united in marriage to Verne Kirchoff at Melrose Methodist Church. She was a former member of Melrose Methodist Church and taught Sunday school. She was a faithful member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton.
Carolyn enjoyed spending time vacationing in Eagle River, Wis., and traveling throughout the United States and Canada. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to garage sales and cooking, often experimenting with different recipes and coming up with new ones to share. She was a loving wife and friend and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Verne of Wilton, and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jonny
A graveside committal service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Wilton. Pastor Cindy Arndt officiated. The Smith-Nelson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
With tears of sorrow we cry each day. In her angels’ arms, you were carried away. Our memories of love, laughter, and happiness shall never fade, for inside our hearts you will always abide. Our dear Savior loves you, and now you will be with him forever.
