Patrick William O’Gara left this earth on Sept. 23, 2014, to become our angel in heaven.
Patrick was born April 28, 1953, to Francis and Mary O’Gara in Wilton. Patrick graduated from Royall High School in 1971. He moved to Minneapolis, where he received an associate’s degree in commercial art from Minneapolis Area Technical College. He moved to Houston, Texas, where he spent the majority of his life before his return to Minneapolis in 2010.
He was very passionate about his art. His was a gifted painter; he could literally make a canvas come alive. His charcoal drawings were bold, daring and dramatic. Patrick had a good eye that showed in the impressive photos he took. He managed several frame stores in Houston, and we are the happy recipients of several lovely works of art. He was gifted in pottery making as well. He was working on completing his teaching degree in art before his return to Minneapolis in 2010.
Patrick was a loving son, brother, Uncle, nephew and cousin. Patrick is survived by his brothers, Mike (Linda) and Dan (Renee), and his loving sisters, Cindy and Lori (Jim). He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, along with his aunts, Patricia Taylor, Carrie Doyle and Jim and Verna Doyle.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father and loving grandparents, Frieda and Emmett Doyle, whom he adored.
A private family memorial will take place Oct. 18 in Wilton. Our life was enriched because Patrick was in it, but we know that God needed him more than we did. We will miss his gentle, sweet nature. Rest in peace, Patrick; you will be missed and loved forever.
