An Ontario Community Garden workday is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, when we’ll pick produce and get the garden ready for the Harvest Fest. Anyone is welcome to join us.

The Ontario Community Garden Harvest Fest will be from 3-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. We will begin with music by Ann Christoffer, who will play at the shelter near the garden. Bring your lawn chair or blanket.
Also, there will be family games and activities. We’ll dunk for apples, make apple cider with a cider press, have donkey rides, and decorate scarecrows.
The Harvest Fest will move to the Ontario Community Hall at 5 p.m. for the tomato taste-off. Bring your favorite recipe that has tomato as an ingredient. Participants will taste and rate recipes, and a prize will be awarded for the best-rated dish.
There will be a soup supper at 5:30 p.m., with soup from the garden, bread, dessert and beverages. There is no charge for any activity, so come and help us celebrate the garden harvest. Everyone is welcome.

If you are into Minecraft, join us Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
According to the website minecraft.net, “Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks. At first, people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, but as the game grew, players worked together to create wonderful, imaginative things.”
Shel Hyatt is coordinating the group. Come and explore.

The book group will discuss “All Quiet on the Western Front” by Erich Maria Remarque. This is a classic novel of World War I, which began 100 years ago. Stop by the library for a copy if you would like to join the discussion.
