Brookwood names athletes of the month

Four Brookwood High School students were named athletes of the month for May/June. They are listed below, with coaches’ comments following the names.

BASEBALL

• Josh Marten: ”Josh batted .438 down the stretch for the Falcons. He was a major factor in our success this season and ignited a number of rallies for us with his speed. Josh was a first team all-conference selection as well.”

SOFTBALL

• Olivia Hansen: ”Olivia was 20-45 (.444 avg.) with 19 RBIs and two home runs. She was a good leader and came up big in several games, hitting in the three hole. She played a solid catcher all year and called some good games behind the plate. She also had seven extra-base hits during our last month of the season. She was a unanimous first team all-conference selection.”

BOYS TRACK

• Walker Rynes: ”Walker helps inspire others with his hard work and dedication. He won conference titles in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 runs and qualified for the state meet in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 relays.”

GIRLS TRACK

• Michaela Baldwin: ”Michaela has demonstrated outstanding leadership all season and worked very hard to improve. She also captured the conference championship in the mile run.”
